JOB TITLE:       Field Technician

DEPARTMENT: Field Operations

 

REPORTS TO: Regional Director of Operations

 

LOCATION OF JOB: Based in the Alexandria, VA area – travel within Region

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:  

 

Reporting to the Regional Director of Operations, the Field Technician is responsible for daily troubleshooting, on-site service and installation duties.  The qualified candidate will have very strong communications skills and possess a customer centric focus.  Candidate will be responsible for installation, upgrading, service and maintenance of video surveillance (CCTV), alarm, and computer networking equipment.  This position is full-time and includes 24/7 on-call duties.  Availability for overnight travel and extended project work is required.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Most frequent duties in order of importance)

 

  • Daily hands on field interaction with customers at a site level and some smaller customer care levels
  • Working in the field directly on the most efficient way to solve service issues (remotely as well as on site)
  • Proper request of site service equipment needs through Dispatch
  • Communication with ROM’s, PM’s and Dispatch on all events to maintain effectiveness
  • Installation work as needed
  • Customer Training as needed
  • Training, placing systems on line
  • Trouble shooting service issues remotely and on site if needed.
  • Ability to travel for 2-3 weeks a month

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: (Academic, Professional, Relevant Job Knowledge)

 

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the U.S. as defined in the Immigration Act of 1986.
  • Possess a clean criminal record and be able to pass background check
  • Possess a good driving record

 

SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: (Computer skills, Software knowledge, Equipment experience…)

 

  • Understanding of Alarm Systems (Ademco knowledge a plus)

  • Basic computer knowledge

  • Dependability

  • Differing working hours
  • Able to lift 40 lbs. up to 10 times a day
